THE NKABINDE REPORT TELLS A DIFFERENT STORY.
Johan Booysen was very confident when he dismissed the Nkabinde Inquiry.
He called it an “abuse of process.”
He dismissed Aris Danikas’s evidence as old material. He said the courts had already dealt with it. The message was clear:
Nothing to see here. Move on.
But the inquiry did not simply move on.
And now the Nkabinde Report has said something Booysen’s version cannot simply explain away:
the idea that there was “no evidence” was unsubstantiated.
Let that sink in.
This does not mean Booysen was found guilty. He wasn’t.
It does mean that the easy dismissal of Danikas and the Cato Manor allegations has been seriously undermined.
And that is where News24/City Press also have a problem.
It gave Booysen a platform to call the inquiry an “abuse of process”.
Now that the Report has been released, will News24/City Press give the public the same prominence when reporting what the inquiry actually found?
Because journalism isn’t just repeating what a powerful person says.
Journalism is also having the courage to go back when the evidence changes the story.
And to Aris Danikas:
For years, people could dismiss you as a disgruntled former policeman, an old story, an inconvenient witness.
But you kept saying:
“Look at the evidence”.
You never needed a headline declaring you a hero.
You needed someone to actually listen.
The Nkabinde Inquiry listened.
And the evidence did not disappear.
Neither did you.
That is the part they can no longer erase.
Not victory.
Not revenge.
Just this:
**The whistleblower was heard.
The evidence was examined.
And the “no evidence” story did not survive.**
Now let the truth be followed wherever it leads.
