RIP, Whislteblower worrier, The remarkable story of ED SCHRANK

WORKPLACE PROMISE INSTITUTE 2024 Washington, DC

On the 11th of September 2024, we traveled to the Capitol in Washington, DC, discussing various legislation regarding the USA whistleblowing protection act. Members of Congress engaged with us.

The singing of the USA national anthem by disabled veteran, whistleblower, and remarkable man, Ed Schrank, was a memorable event that left us both in admiration and sadness.

At the time of his retirement from the United States Marine Corps, Ed was a Gunnery Sergeant.

Ed is a 6-time head and neck cancer survivor from chemical exposure while serving 15 years in the United States Marine Corps. He was diagnosed with lacrimal adenocarcinoma (tear duct cancer) in 2006 after being exposed to toxic chemicals in military jet fuel from January 1998 to May 2003; during the latter part of this period, Ed was stationed in Afghanistan, where he performed extra hazardous duties. The physician who wrote a letter to the Navy discussing Ed’s cancer stated that it “is a direct result from being exposed to carcinogens while serving his country.”

Following is part of Ed’s biography (abstracted from his website – www.edwardschrank.com):

Schrank … is a healthcare entrepreneur.  He is the founding partner of LFDM.

building emerging technology partnerships across healthcare platforms. He has also formed

the Military Cancer Initiative to build partnerships between the Department of Veterans

Affairs (VHA) and leading private sector cancer institutions.

Previously, Schrank built positions as Vice President of Strategic Planning at

Fifth Third Bank and Special Assistant to the Mayor of the City of Chicago.

From 1996 to 2012, Schrank served as an active-duty Marine. He started his

career on the physics side of precision measurement and spent the second half bridging data platforms between the DOD and other agencies.

Although he had lost his left eye and parts of his skull in 2007 during his first

occurrence with cancer from exposure to JP5/8 jet fuel, Schrank fought successfully to remain on active duty in the Marine Corps until the fallout of the second occurrence. His pathway has since included multiple resections and the largest dose of medical radiation to date.

Ed has been featured in the “War and Peace” exhibit at The National Museum

of the Marine Corps, named Marine of the Year, and ASTRO Survivor of the Year. He was selected as the Honor Graduate seven times in military training and was meritoriously promoted twice.

Today, in the face of overwhelming odds and unbelievable adversity,

has set his goal to do something that (more than five years ago) he was told would be impossible: to speak, let alone sing. And what better way than to sing our national anthem and project the meaning of the anthem to other people?

Ed has also sung our National Anthem at many sports events, such as NASCAR, Major League Baseball games, and NFL games, among other events, and has spoken at various charity events, such as for the American Cancer Society and Luke’s Wings. (Luke’s Wings “provides emergency travel planning services and airplane tickets for the families and loved ones of wounded, ill, and injured service members, veterans, and fallen officers during hospital recovery and rehabilitation.” (From their website.)

Yasmine Motarjemi, “I always fight a triple battle, legal, media and scientific”

Kyrgyz writer established in Geneva, Zhenishbek Edigeev spoke on June 28, 2024 with Yasmine Motarjemi ( photo DR ), a specialist in food poisoning. After a hard struggle, this whistleblower won a lawsuit against Nestlé but this victory leaves her with a bitter taste. Yes, I won, but it is a very bitter victory. Very bitter because initially, my fight focused on food safety management. In fact, my termination letter states that I was fired for my opinions. So, it was indeed a matter of food safety. During the process, I was harassed for my opinions before being fired. I could have been fired immediately if my opinions did not suit the group, but the group chose to harass me for four years to destroy me psychologically and socially, and ruin my career. In Switzerland, you know, you can fire someone with three months’ salary. It’s very easy to lay
